This update features a New currency, new Custom items, a new Mystery box, Loot beams and a Friends list AFK status feature. Plus the usual misc fixes and improvements!
After lots of discussion, we have decided that for the long-term benefit of PkWild, a new currency should be introduced.
The main currency of the game is now Pk points, or PKP.
PkWild's PKP will be slightly different from other servers, as it is always kept as a physical item; you cannot 'redeem' it. It'll still be used in exactly the same way that coins and platinum tokens were.
We have chosen to do this for a couple of reasons. Firstly, having coins and platinum tokens with the way that items were priced previously meant that inflation was a big issue. For new players, seeing players advertising gambling 20b, 50b etc could have definitely put them off progressing.
Secondly, scaling back prices allows for more future growth with item prices vs before.
Players can convert any coins or platinum tokens that they still have by simply clicking on them and following the dialogue option.
Any active trading post offers have been automatically converted to PKP and scaled down.
We have scaled back all prices and any content involving currency value to be 500x LESS than it was previously.
This means that an item that had a server value of 500k gp is now worth 1k PKP.
All donator custom items have also been renamed to fit the new scaling.
Six new recoloured ankou sets have been added. These are:
- Green
- Orange
- Yellow
- Black
- Pink
- Blue
Players can use the corresponding coloured ankou dye on an ankou item piece to dye it.
The dye and ankou item pieces are obtainable from the new Cosmetic mystery box!
The loot chance of the dye is much higher than the rate of the actual ankou pieces, due to needing one dye per item.
Introducing the latest mystery box drop - the Cosmetic box!
This box includes all the previously released cosmetic items from every tier of mystery box, plus a load of new ones too.
This box is the only way to obtain the new ankou dyes and pieces.
The drop chance of rare items from this box is much more common than other mystery boxes, so there's no excuse not to bag yourself a rare!
Loot beams are brightly coloured graphics that can be toggled to appear above a valuable item on the ground.
The colours tie in with the text colour for the ground items overlay, although they are separate toggles.
If ::afk is used, your online status will change to say "AFK" in yellow text instead of "Online" in green.
Myself and Origin have been busy speed-running Olm to get it released ASAP. I'm pleased to say that Cox is very nearly ready for beta testing, which will take place next week, all being well.
Our client developer has implemented all the necessary changes that we were lacking before in order to progress with adding newer OSRS content, including raids 2 and 3 bosses and more. This new system was added into OSRS a few years ago, and it was a big change to how certain animations and models work. Previously, these new bosses would simply be invisible and unusable.
Outsourcing work like this is not cheap, but it's vital for the growth of the game.
This means that there's no excuse now not to get more pvm content added to PkWild!
